I finished reading Jude the Obscure several weeks ago, and I found it a much better read than when I was forced to read Hardy's Return of the Native as a sophomore in college. After finishing the book I rented Jude,the movie, which was not near as good as the book. I also checked out from the Austin library a BBC play adaptation of the book. Although better than the movie, it too was not as good as the book. Enjoy your reading. J.
