Author Visit - Karen Valby

Author Karen Valby delighted us with her stories about her book, Welcome to Utopia: Notes From a Small Town, and its characters! Valby's experience of several years of living near Utopia, Texas was clearly special and precious to her. We could tell she was and is very fond of the people she was involved with in Utopia.

Because the stories Valby told us were her own and those of the people of Utopia, I decided to leave this posting with a photo of Valby at our meeting. A picture is worth a thousand words, after all, isn't it?

This is a photo of Karen Valby on the right. On the left is RRNN Programs Coordinator Karen Hartle. Karen Valby was signing books for us and had to hurry to pick up her child from a program, so I didn't want to bother her. Just took this one photo when she was talking with Karen. Two Karens.

Those who attended the meeting enjoyed hearing Karen Valby's stories. For those who were unable to be there, the book and the afterword in the paperback version will have to suffice for info about the residents of Utopia, a small town at the brink of pop culture.
